Children feel the walking power even as they celebrate the Welly Walking Day in Cumbria. These kids walked their way to school recently as against using a vehicle as a mode of transport. Molly Calvin and Maddie Fox were just two of the little ones who did so. These kids were from St James infants, Whitehaven. There was simply no dearth of primary schools that participated in the event even as more and more kids went their way to school on foot.
The Centre Etoile Parisienne is base for Paris Parle French Immersion programmes. Voyager Interaction encourages students to speak French to actively engage students in French Interaction Of course instructors can benefit from going outside the classroom as well.
This was in fact a county council-backed campaign encouraging kids to walk accordingly, all the while ignoring the weather.
Cumbria’s Active Travel to School scheme is also seeing teacher’s joining the endeavor to convince parents and kids to simply do away with the vehicles while on their way to schools. The simple fact here being is that it is great for their health as well as the overall health of the environment.
Walking means doing away with the vehicles and thus using them lesser that means lesser pollution and a much healthier planet. The idea behind initiatives like this is to simply convince the kids into traveling to school walking even during harsh weather conditions. For once, they may wear protecting gear while on their way and still enjoy the exhilarating experience of walking in the rain and snow.
Great Corby from Carlisle, St James’ Infants located in Whitehaven, Lanercost Church of England Primary, Workington’s Seaton Juniors, Netherton Infants, were among the schools that actively saw the participation of kids and their parents alike with much enthusiasm in the air and not a care for the harsh cold weather.
The kids flaunted their colorful willies that were full of groovy designs. Some even had Toy Story star Buzz Lightyear, flowers and cartoon characters among the many designs as delightfully worn and showed off.

WINTER TRAVEL WOES FOR PARENTS
The winter continues to be as harsh as ever and parents worry as to how their little ones will travel from home to school and back. Indiana is among the many regions of United States that is seeing heavy snowfall and ruthless winds. So much so that classes have been called off and many a services disrupted including air travelling as well.
As for the roads, they are simply covered with deep and thick layers of frozen ice. Amidst this maintaining a school bus and operating it can prove to be rather a expensive option for parents. This is where one bumped into an article in Specilty magazine that went, “School Board Members and Bus Drivers Illustrated Quarterly”. The article spoke of what is followed by some of the district schools in Japan and Korea.
This was thus brought to light by Dr. Dean Wagstaff from the Institute of School Travel. He spoke of how these schools have managed to potently gather funds that have helped them in their endeavor to build a complex system of pneumatic, fiberglass tubes. These tubes are all ready for use and will have the child being sucked from their homes and directly being delivered to their schools. The idea sounds to be rather amusing and at once dangerous as well. But this sucking and delivering process again will be absolutely safe and without any threat.
Andalucia holiday villas give you assorted holiday villas in and around Andalucia at a reasonable cost.
All the while the students will reach their schools in a matter of seconds as such. A representative of a school near Osaka, Japan spoke of how the sucking and delivering of the kids through these tubes have actually seen a few times animals like cats and dogs being also sucked by these tubes. These were thus later delivered to the school premises. Many zoning changes and bake sales had to be done before the tubes could come into place and later play at that.
Alright this was all cooked up and fiction poorly written at that. But then the idea isn’t that farfetched. For once, come to think of it, that is how great many inventions sounded before being literally manifested.

STORMING ISSUES IN CAPE COD
It was said that the winter this year might be really harsh. In fact as harsh as not seen in a long, long time. Remaining true to the predictions many a regions saw chilled weather as the places had not experienced in decades. Snowfall simply clogged every nook and corner while travelling through even air was a strict no-no, leave alone roads. The scenario was much the same in Cape Cod that is witnessing extreme winter storms.
This has thus also resulted in the cancellation of schools even as travelling has been made impossible. The layers of snow ran into many a thick inches which were nothing short of alarming. Some places actually saw wind speed reading a tremendous 50 miles per hour.
Cape Cod Community College was among the many institutions that had to just do away with their classes on Thursday. However they hoped to resume with normal classes that were scheduled to take place after 5pm in the evening. The snow has leaded to even the many main roads being shut and not in any state of use.

The Steamship Authority had to stall services between Hyannis and Nantucket. Barnstable Municipal Airport also had most of its flights being called off and cancelled thus. Similar was the fate as to be met with, for The Plymouth and Brockton bus service.
People who were all set to travel by air were also thus alerted to check with their respective airliners which they had chosen to fly with. Barnstable Senior Center; the cape Museum of Art in Dennis; The Falmouth Public Library, the Sturgis Library in Barnstable were among the places that all closed and their programs as scheduled which were called off.

MINGUS SCHOOL CONTINUES TO TRAVEL
Budgetary issues have led to a lot many talks coming into play that has people suggesting that the school travel lesser and only when needed as such. The board has for the same stated that they won’t be holding back on their travels for the remaining part of the year.
In the mean while there is Mingus Superintendent Tim Foist who feels that the school should cut down on its travels except for when needed the most. This would thus help them do the much required savings. For once they may travel during competitions only and end up doing savings worth as much as $13,000 even before the school closes for the year. Later on even during the summers, they may enjoy savings worth as much as $12,000.

For once going to the trips, like say the Utah Shakespeare Festival, can be paid for by other means apart from the funds directly coming from the school. But then the board members, who are staunch with their stand for the time being at least, feel that these tours cannot simply be done away with. They are effectively educational and enlightening for the students. Board member Anita Glazar was among the one who spoke in affirmative thus.
This is against Foist’s arguments that the trip, even if be needed to make to the festival, should be having the students and their parents themselves paying for it. At the same time Business manager Kirk Waddle states of how one should not ignore the fact as to how much of expenses are being made when they go on a long trip in the school’s buses. The spending is in fact anywhere between $50,000 and $60,000 annually and that too for fleet maintenance only.
Ralph Fobair, Career and Technology Education director for the district is another person who is with the idea of the traveling program. For once, the CTE courses as offered ought to be still a part of the school’s scheme of things and the travelling part comes with it.

SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD LEARNS TO TRAVELS ON HIS OWN
A young teenaged special needs kid, in a moment of triumph and a first of sorts, has started using technology to its full and potent use. He has started to travel to his school on his own thus. This is in the country of Scotland where Craig Nibloe from Pilrig Park School was trained a good five weeks on the use of GPS device. This was as how to get a bus on his way to school from his house.
All the while under the eye of the staff, the kid has successfully started to travel on his own and without the slightest hint of a worry at that. He also has the opinions of giving an alarm call for help in case of any difficulty or for that matter if he finds himself lost from his way.
The new initiative that is taking place here has greatly strengthened up these kids into supporting themselves better and thus doing away with the inabilities. It was through tremendous hard work and education both on parts of the teacher and these kids that this happening has been made possible. The pupils were trained as such and for as many as eight weeks at that.
Another fifteen year old student, Peter Ellis, from the same school, Pilrig Park, is already learning well and good to make use of the device for the same purpose. In the mean while for seventeen years old Craig, this experience of traveling by himself is nothing short of exhilarating even as he feels truly what being independent means.
This has thus been used as a first in Edinburgh in Scotland. The use of technology in this manner may thus be better and greatly help special needs kids in more ways than one. The SkyGuard GPS device costs £25 as far as its monthly rent is concerned. The device comes with a guarantee and at the same time bettered versions of the product will be given to the kids for no additional costs.
Pilrig Park School head-teacher Ellen Muir is absolutely amazed and happy none the less, at the fact that these kids are feeling truly strong and more self worthy with the use of the device.
